Make it Attractive

Hi everyone -

These days...this weekend...this is when most of us make an emotional and physical shift into full summer mode. Along the 53rd parallel north summers are short but glorious, and we really ought to lean in and make the most of this most wonderful time of the year. I hope you’re able to get outside, breath the fresh air and ‘...lie down in some green pastures and restore your soul.’

But while that’s happening, can I ask you to make one of our weekend gatherings a priority? We’re launching our summer schedule and teaching series next weekend (more details in this space next Friday...we’re going to have a fun summer together!), but on this Father’s Day Weekend, Indigenous People’s Day week, SCA's Graduation week, and the official start of summer, I’m going to devote my teaching time to sharing some thoughts about current reality and some ideas about the way ahead. It’s a vision weekend - a time for candid thoughts about the state of the church in the world and some assessment of OUR church in the world.

This weekend’s services will also include a brief ordination ceremony for young pastor, Kiara Moshansky. We don’t get to do this very often, and I’m looking forward to blessing and affirming my good teammate and pastor Kiara along with many of you.

Be well friends! Hope to see you online or in person this weekend!

Greg Hochhalter | Lead Pastor

Monumental VBS

Parents: Send your kids on a desert adventure! At Monumental VBS, kids celebrate God's greatness! Monumental is filled with awesome Bible-learning experiences kids see, hear, and touch! Sciency-Fun Gizmos™, team-building games, unforgettable Bible songs, and tasty treats are just a few of the standout activities that help faith flow into real life. (Since everything is hands-on, kids might get a little messy. Be sure to send them in play clothes and sturdy shoes.) Plus, we'll help kids discover how to see evidence of God in everyday life - something we call God Sightings®.

Get ready to hear that phrase a lot! Your kids will also participate in a hands-on mission project, through a program called Operation Kid-to-Kid™, that will provide school supplies for kids living on reservations. Parents, grandparents, and friends are invited to join us at Canyon Closing each day at 11:30 am, a daily celebration of God's greatness and love! So mark these dates on your calendar: August 22-26, 2022. The fun starts at 9:00 am and will end at noon. Click here to register your children for this life-changing adventure!

Online Ministry Enhancement

The public weekend gathering is no longer the front door - the digital presence and online experience of church is overwhelmingly our first point of connection with the spiritually curious, and an essential method for initiating and fostering discipling relationships within our congregation. Streaming online is more than a broadcast - it's a platform with which to nurture meaningful connections with online viewers.

The hybrid church is the new normal.

To help support this new normal, we are launching an Online Ministry Enhancement campaign. For more information please see spac.ca/online.
