Happy New Year
Church Family,
As we say farewell to 2022 and enter 2023, I found a prayer that so beautifully expresses my heart for each of us. In a world that so often tramples and barges and yells I love the tone and posture of this. The line may we speak only after we have listened well is kind of a summary of the message I'm looking forward to sharing with you at our ONE service this weekend - 10am on Sunday, January 1. I think God has something for us that could powerfully impact the year ahead.
I really hope you can participate either in person or online. Looking forward to starting the New Year with you.
Rita Penner | Care Pastor
P.S. Listening is also at the heart of our theme for this year’s week of prayer January 9-13. You can get info and register here Solemn Assembly 2023.
Help Us Enter the New Year
God of all time,
help us enter the New Year quietly,
thoughtful of who we are to ourselves and to others,
mindful that our steps make an impact
and our words carry power.
May we walk gently.
May we speak only after we have listened well.
Creator of all life,
help us enter the New Year reverently,
aware that you have endowed
every creature and plant, every person and habitat
with beauty and purpose.
May we regard the world with tenderness.
May we honor rather than destroy.
Lover of all souls,
help us enter the New Year joyfully,
willing to laugh and dance and dream,
remembering our many gifts with thanks
and looking forward to blessings yet to come.
May we welcome your lavish love.
In this new year, may the grace and peace of Christ bless us now and in the days ahead.
- Vinita Hampton Wright
Service time this weekend
On New Year's Eve, Saturday December 31st, there will be no service - online or in person.
On Sunday January 1, we will have our normal Sunday service at 10 AM online and in person.
Communion
This weekend, we will starting the New Year by celebrating Communion together, remembering what Jesus has done for in thankfulness.
If you attend online, we invite you to us - find some crackers and juice and join us as we corporately take Communion as the body of Christ.
Solemn Assembly
A week of prayer for everyone. Beginning the year with a week of prayer is really a primer for the pattern we want to dedicate ourselves to for the whole year.
Join us for Solemn Assembly, January 9-13, 2023.
Pizza with the Pastor
If you are new or feel new, join us to learn more about our church. Discover how to get connected and enjoy the opportunity to meet others.
Pizza with the Pastor is a regular event we hold, as a way for you to meet others who are new(er), as well as some of the pastoral team.
Pizza with the Pastor will be held after each service on January 14 or 15. When you register you can select which class you'll be attending.
If are unable to join us in person please email us for an online option.
Child Dedication
There is no manual for raising kids, but God has given us something far better - the Holy Spirit, and community. Child Dedication is a way to acknowledge our dependence on the leadership and guidance of the Holy Spirit as we do our best to be an example and lead our children into a relationship with Jesus.
Our next Child Dedication is scheduled for January 28 & 29. To register by January 15 and for more information, please see spac.ca/kids.
