Extraordinary Nobodies: Lydia
Hi Friends,
I know it’s only August 4 and there’s still a good chunk of summer left, but I’m already thinking about fall and hope you’re okay with me forcing you to think about it too! I’d like to make you aware of two important matters:
First, you’re all invited a post-service party on Sunday, August 27 (11:30 am). Come hungry, as there will be burgers and dogs (and all that comes with them) for everyone in the back parking lot and field, along with games and activities for all ages. We did something like this at the end of August last year and the overwhelming reaction from the masses was ‘more please.’ Come hang out and meet some new and old friends as we wind down the summer together.
Second, I’m asking whether you might consider committing to worship on Saturday evenings in the fall? We need to create some space on Sunday morning, and before we’re forced to add an additional service time, we’d like to ask some of you to shift your allegiance from Sunday to Saturday. And to entice you, I’m delighted to let you know that we’ll be offering full Kids programming on Saturday’s, starting September 2, along with a shift to a start time more attractive to those with young children – 6 pm. We think ‘Church at 6’ will also result in more post-service lingering and on and off campus opportunities to connect with others. And when the Oilers are playing the Hockey Night in Canada late game, you won’t have to miss the opening faceoff!
I hope you’re enjoying the glory days of summer, and if you’re able to take in one of this weekend’s gatherings, this nobody will be introducing you to another Extraordinary Nobody from Acts 16. Her name is Lydia, and she’s super cool. Trust me.

We are hosting a BBQ on Sunday, August 27, at 11:30 AM, after the 10 AM service, which will include a hot dog and hamburger barbeque lunch. All food and drinks will be provided (gluten-free and vegan options will be available). There will also be games for all ages! Please bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on.
Come celebrate with us as we wind down the summer together!
Our Saturday Night Service time is changing!
Our Sunday 10 am service continues to grow. To help make room, we will be moving our service time on Saturdays to 6 pm and ask you to consider attending:
Saturday, Church at 6.
Why? This will open up room for our growing Sunday attendance and help to accommodate families with young children who may need an earlier bedtime on Saturday. An earlier time will also provide an opportunity for connecting more after the service.
When? Starting September 2, 2023
Will there be kids programming? Yes! We are welcoming back Nursery, available for children ages 0-2, and complete Kids Ministry programming for children ages 3 to Grade 6 on Saturday nights.
If you are considering making this switch, we ask you to register and commit to attending Church at 6 for the fall. This will help us build a robust Saturday night church community and to help with the planning for Kids Ministry.
