Deeply Rooted ..in Attitude

Hi Church Family

Happy Thanksgiving Weekend! I’m thrilled to be opening up God’s word with you this weekend as we start at the beginning of Jesus’ famous sermon on the Mount. (if you’d like to read ahead – it is Matthew 5:1-12)

This weekend, we will be wrestling with the idea of blessing. And what do we do, when we feel far from blessed? The opening of the sermon on the mount is referred to as the “beatitudes,” which comes from the Latin Beatus, meaning to be blessed. Here, Jesus describes eight different groups of blessed individuals. The problem is that they don’t sound all that blessed – they are the poor, the meek, the mourning… people whose situations would typically not lead us to consider them blessed.

So what do we do with that? What is Jesus saying? It seems so backward to the way we understand blessing – and that’s the point, so join us this weekend as we unpack this ancient truth together.

Saturday at 6pm | Sunday at 10am | In person or Online
